Keeping warm with Dining-OUT

Winter has taken a turn for the worse with an intense cold front sweeping over the country. If you’re in Cape Town (as we are), you can expect flooding, gale force winds of up to 75km/h, and apparently, 12cm of snow over Table Mountain overnight!

Don’t get too smug, all you gauteng-ers, the cold front is expected to also spread into the central parts of the country, hitting KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday and reaching Gauteng by Tuesday.

If you’re planning to dine out this weekend be sure to warm your belly with some hearty soup. Medeo at the Palazzo has an amazing pulled lamb neck, barley and winter vegetables soup and Paranga in Camps Bay is offering a sweet corn soup with truffle popcorn winter special.

You could also warm your belly in a more alcoholic fashion with some lovely gluhwein at the Wild Fig in Mowbray and Toadbury Hall in Elansdrif offers both gluhwein and a cosy fireplace.

Other restaurants with fireplaces include Peddlars on the Bend in Constantia or Bardelli’s in Gardens. In Johannesburg you can keep toasty at The Baron in Bryanston or Café Picobella Trattoria in Melville. In fact there are 499 restaurants with fireplaces listed on Dining-OUT so have a look for a for a restaurant with a fireplace nearest to you!
